Get Organized With Me: A Tried & True Shower Shelf Upgrade.

Happy Monday my lovelies! Who else is upset about the snow this weekend? I’m here to remind you that even though we lost a precious hour of beauty sleep, the sun is (technically) setting an hour later now. Which means we just keep getting closer and closer to better weather soon. Don’t let it get you down, it’s coming around sooner than you think!

Whenever we get this kind of weather on the weekends and I have no plans, I immediately go into productivity mode and think "it’s reorganization time". Something, somewhere in my house, must need to be reorganized, I just need to find it. There’s something about organizing my home that really relieves my stress. I find that cleaning does the same for me. Organizing is a form of cleaning, decluttering, and managing your space to make your life easier and more efficient. If you need tips on organization in your home, you came to the right place. Follow along as I share my quick tips on how to organize one space at a time.

Back to this week’s chosen area of reorganization… For those of you who’ve been following along with my latest blog posts, you know that I’ve been slowly trying to change items in my home to black, especially accents or pieces of decor (still waiting to see what my husband notices first). On that same note, I discovered the most adorable little shelf, bottles and soap holder for my shower, all in - you guessed it - BLACK. Ironically, my shower actually has a curtain hiding it, so no one actually sees the shelf, only me. But since it fits my current aesthetic decor, I’ll take it! I think reorganizing your shower supplies could be especially nice when you have a glass shower door, and guests who use your washroom can see the inside of your shower. Without a doubt, it makes everything look clean and sleek.

Let’s start with the shelf - I purchased these KINCMAX Shower Shelves exactly one year ago and have to say I’m pleasantly pleased by their durability. At $32 for 2 shelves, I fully expected them to fall under the weight of my million shower products at some point. That thing is still hooked on strong and not going anywhere. It comes with an adhesive strip that is super sticky. You get one try to put it on, so make sure it’s level! It’s got lots of room for storage but also comes with 2 hooks on the side for extra hanging space. I’ve put one shelf in each of my showers to test them out, and both are still in excellent shape. Even with hard water, cleaning products, AND a hard bristled brush, there have been no chips of the matte black and especially no rusting. That’s because it’s made with a premium stainless steel that’s corrosion-, oxidation- and scratch-resistant. This makes them anti-rust, quick-drying, waterproof, non-fading and easy to clean. No wonder it’s still in tip-top shape!

Following the shelf itself, I really needed a better option to hold my bar of soap, as well as all my other shower products. I just wanted it to look nicer, and was getting tired of the mess and space being completely consumed by my massive shampoo and conditioner bottles. In comes my solution - the Segbeauty Shower Refillable Dispensers. These sleek bottles hold 16.9oz of liquids, and even though it doesn’t seem like much, I emptied half my massive shampoo and conditioner bottle into those babies. Not only that, the bottles came with 6 cute labels: Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Soap, Hand Soap, Dish Soap and Lotion. They’re looking great up on the shelf, but can also be used in other areas of your home. We’re living for the multi-purpose products here at Tried & True For You.

Along with those 3 bottles, I also added a Silicone Soap Holder - yes, also black - which just happened to fit perfectly on this shelf. It’s flexible and therefore easy to clean. Especially the fact that it’s silicone means with one wipe under some warm water, it’s good as new. Perfect to hold a bar of soap. It also comes in a pack of two, so you can use the second one in another shower in your home, on the bathroom sink, or even at your kitchen sink for your dish sponge! Once again, we really do love the versatility here.

I’m looking at organizing my bathroom drawers next with some new cuties that just came in. I’m really excited to see how that comes. Stick around for more organization hacks and inspiration coming your way in my future blog posts!

Want to organize a space, but not sure where to start? Here are my QUICK STEPS below. Watch these steps in live action HERE.

EMPTY - Start by clearing out everything from the space.

CATEGORIZE - Separate everything you’ve cleared out into categories based on its type.

THROW AWAY - Do yourself a favour and dump the stuff you haven’t used or worn, is expired, or that you really have no need for. Close your eyes and throw. This is the hardest part for most people.

CLEAN - Before you put everything back by its category, make sure you deep clean the emptied space.

STORAGE - Look for ways to store things by their categories. Depending on the space you’re organizing, this could be baskets, bins, bottles, jars, etc. There is a storage solution for every space in your home.

ORGANIZE - Put everything back into the space, in its categorized storage that you’ve chosen.

And VOILA! You have a freshly organized space. I’ll try to demonstrate these steps in my upcoming blog posts to really show the process in detail, and how I can apply it to any part of my home. It really works, and it’s helped me keep my home neat and tidy. It all starts with one drawer, one cupboard, one closet, or one room at a time. Baby steps and you will get there! Until next time…

Love, Annamaria
